157 TIERRA - Amorphica Design Research Office En Baja California, existen escuelas primarias rurales con escasos recursos para que los alumnos puedan estudiar de una manera comoda y eficiente.  In Baja California, there are rural elementary schools that are functioning with limited resourses where students lack the ability to study comfortably and with efficiency. Por eso, un grupo de personas nos hemos reunido para apoyar directamente a los niños que asisten a estas escuelas. So, a group of people have gathered to directly support the kids that attend these schools. En el verano del 2010, Aarón Gutiérrez, Yara Amparo Lopez y David Castillo condujeron un taller de diseño arquitectónico en la Universidad Iberoamericana para comenzar con una escuela ubicada en una comunidad rural del municipio de Rosarito: UNA ESCUELA PROTOTIPO con la que empezaremos nuestro estudio que se llevará a cabo este año. In the summer of 2010, Aaron Gutierrez, Yara Amparo Lopez & David Castillo conducted an architectural studio at the Universidad Iberoamericana to begin renovations at a school located in Rosarito, Baja California: A PROTOTYPICAL SCHOOL which will be the beginning of what will be built this year. It is time to act, it’s time to follow through on a great task that will benefit a community of elementary school students. a rural community that covers hundreds of thousands of people that need our intervention. PRECEDENTES / PRECEDENTS En el pasado, Amorphica ha trabajado con el Gobierno del Estado de Baja California en el desarrollo de la infraestructura de estas escuelas rurales de la region. Varias manos han apoyado, desde las madres de familia de los alumnos, hasta organizaciones extranjeras que viajan para trabajar en las obras.  In the past, Amorphica has worked with the Government of Baja California in the development of rural school’s infrastructures. La franja costera de ese recorrido nos muestra una gran cantidad de ejidos, comunidades rurales y pequeñas aldeas fuertemente pobladas. En una de ellas, se encuentra la comunidad de La Ladrillera, en donde está La Escuela Primaria José Ma. Pino Suarez. Our School (prototype) is located in Rosarito Baja California, in a village called Primo Tapia, about 7.5 miles south of Downtown Rosarito. The stretch is heavily populated by small rural communities. One of them is La Ladrillera (The Brickery) where José Ma. Aunque nuestra naturaleza es encontrar lo mejor de cada lugar que visitamos, también observamos y nos damos cuenta de que estos niños necesitan mejores espacios para aprender, para comer, para jugar. Una cosa mas, aquí los niños estudian tiempo completo, es decir, de 8 de la mañana a 4 de la tarde. Even though our nature is to find beauty in every place we visit, we also observe and take notice that these children need a better place to to learn, to eat, to play. TIERRA from amorphica on Vimeo. Después de gran cantidad de horas sumergidos en dialogos, estudios y lluvias de ideas, se han concluido las necesidades reales de la escuela. Nuestra manera de trabajar es a base de estudios arduos para poder llegar a resolver los problemas arquitectónicos/Urbanos/ y dar soluciones a retos sociales, culturales, económicos entre otros, con gran precisión y sensibilidad. After a great amount of hours submerged in dialogue, studies and brainstorming sessions, the real necessities of the school have been concluded. La 1era y 2a, una estructura multi-usos en la cual se pueda comer bajo un techo, en donde se puedan tener clases de varios tipos de artesanias, obras de teatro, cine, clases para adultos, conciertos. Un espacio no solo para que los niños disfruten y aprendan de 8am a 4pm sino que se pueda utilizar por las comunidades aledañas a la zona. Son decenas de miles de personas que se beneficiarían de este espacio. Our project consists of 5 phases. The 1st & 2nd, a Multi-purpose building where kids can eat, where they can conduct various types of clases including adult courses, it can be arranged as a theatre, as a concert hall, etc. This place can be used by hte students from 8am to 4pm, and by the rest of the communities’ tens of thousands of people. 157 - TIERRA [ Integral Weave of Schools in Rural Communities with Self-Sufficient resources] / [Tejido Integral Educativo y Rural con Recursos Autosuficientes] - Amorphica - Aaron Gutierrez 157 - TIERRA [ Integral Weave of Schools in Rural Communities with Self-Sufficient resources] / [Tejido Integral Educativo y Rural con Recursos Autosuficientes] - Amorphica - Aaron Gutierrez La 3ra etapa consiste de crear una plaza civica del tamaño adecuado para los mas de 180 alumnos y maestros. Por el momento, la plaza es muy pequeña y es dificil conducir asambleas y mucho menos tener vigilancia de un extremo a otro de la escuela. Una plaza civica unirá a dará una transparencia necesaria en toda la escuela.  The 3rd stage of this project consists of creating a civic plaza of adequate size for the more than 180 students and teachers. As it stands, the school does not have a decent sized plaza, the school is divided and is difficult to monitor the students from one end of the school to another. La barda perimetral también carece de seguridad y creemos que podria ser utilizada para eregir un huerto vertical que tendrá infinitas posibilidades para el aprendizaje de los alumnos. Los modulos ubicados en las fachadas de los salones de clase daran sombra y crearán una barreara para el ruido de la plaza.  Phases 4 & 5 are composed of the following: The front entrance wich lacks sense of security and integration to the campus. The perimeter fence also lacks sense of security and could be used as a vertical garden wich brings infinite possibilities in the student’s education.
