Detection
of a possibility.
When
at all cost, discovery is the decision maker.
The
rhetoric about discovery comes at a time of desire for new space, new ideas
about the way a conventional hospital treats and engages with it's public.
The
hospital as a mere entity stands as a non-place. A Skeleton which has to be
navigated with fear and uncertainty. Corridors and halls stand as flourescent
cavities that one ignores and wishes them be as senseless as possible.
With
surreal imagination and cold calculation, emerge tunnels of light. The travels
through its interstices have been the focus of attention in a mere schematic
conception. The destinations for now [the hospital room] have been left aside
to attend the lines of tension and stress, the paths that lead to hope and sometimes
irreversible occurrances.
Rest
is stable, action is for now the destination.

Deriving
inspiration from the phenomena of information space and the dynamic systems
that hospitals emerge in on a daily basis, Proto Hospital is engaging space
and navigational hypermatrices through conditionally and specific questions
and explorations.
Through
statistics on various system organizations, as well as the visceral imagination
of human accident and the so-called intuitive, this volume has taken shape in
a non-linear production.
At
a glance, these chaotic movements in space pretend to dance in waves of generations
of information vertices. In no instance is this eruption of form a calculation
of mere factual data, but of sensual information guided by the manipulation
of our sense of aesthetics, modified by our momentuous sentiments.

Suddenly
and simultaneously: numbers, code, structure, faxes, blood banks, $$, MDs, nurses,
HIV, longevity, air, self-sufficiency, green, +,
zoning, salaries, health-care system and non-systems. Small pox, penicillin,
hepidural anesthetics, PR, sales, marketing and that damn logo, physics, materiality,
transluscency, lighting and daylighting, etcetera... and we arrive... somewhere
without a sky.
Simultaneously
only because research is imperative as columns and grids, yet the problem to
solve can be taken lightly or as most would, conventionally. Prototypically
and inventively though..
perhaps
the responsibility of an independent-non-traditional manner of thought.
